Spoon's comment on The Apprentice

I've just seen a kettle with a bird on the end of the spout!  Shame it wasn't a chicken ...

Today they have to design a household gadget, which can be used in the house or the garden.  I am pretty sure that there are lots of useful ideas that they could come up with that would amuse chickens in the garden when their Mum and Dad are at work.  I bet you they don't come up with anything like that though :(

I don't think I would like to be on the girls' team.  There is definitely a level of bitchiness going on already and we are only five minutes in.  The faces on some of them!  Did I mention the faces?  The 'look, I'm sucking on a lemon' expression seems to be a common one this episode.

I'd like to be in the boardroom.  I think I would be able to peck at the others to get through to being The Apprentice.

Dressage

No, not how old Mum's wardrobe is ... but ...

Obviously this is not Mum, but this is what she was working on today, doing what she calls posh riding!  She had Narnia again today and it seemed to go really well; even her instructor said she was showing off!

Britain's Got Talent ...

... we'll see!  It starts again tonight so we are looking forward to seeing what there is on offer.  To start with there are the judges ...

A new line-up again.  Shame, we liked Michael McIntyre, but we think that David Walliams will be funny.  We're not sure what Alesha Dixon is wearing though.  It looks like she has been to her gran's house and nicked the curtains, bedding and trims and made them into a dress.  Amanda Holden looks a little bit better, although we think she might have been onto the Merlin set and nicked the chain mail to make her dress.

Fried's comments on The Apprentice

"Enthusiasm is caught ... not taught."  Does he mean like a disease or a ball?  Surely it can't be the first, because that is really not a good thing at all.  You have to get medicine or go to hospital if that happens.  So it must be the second.  You're in a bit of trouble if your spatial awareness is limited though.

I'm a bit disappointed in the comments that have been made so far ... perhaps there will be more next week?

More for us to comment on ...

... The Apprentice starts tonight!  Obviously we are not allowed to reveal any spoilers because we know that Dad might not be watching it until later.  But we are looking forward to making lots of deep and meaningful comments on the candidates and what they are doing.

And here is one to start with ... Lord Sugar: "I am not looking for a friend ... I am looking for a Marks to my Spencers."

Cooking the Mahusive Egg

Ready to crack ... next to normal eggs.

Mum took a picture of what came out but then pressed a button and it disappeared and she didn't realise until it was too late ... muppet!

There was one egg inside another egg and it made what you can see above (the top yolk comes from the outside egg and you can see the freshly cracked inside egg on top).

One egg inside another one.

Weight of egg before cooking was 160g.
And Mum thinks that there might have been another one later in the week, but we sat on it and cracked both the outside and the inside egg.
She still hasn't figured out who laid it!

Wee downt need no edookation

... but Mum did this weekend.  She left us lots of food and water and a new cabbids while she went to the

She came back with a trolley load of stuff including bugs.  She said that they were not bugs that we could eat though; apparently they are all fluffy, so that was a bit disappointing for us.  Apparently they look something like this ...

P.S. We decided to go on strike while she was away and did not lay any eggs ... after that big one earlier in the week we think we are allowed to take time off.

I think a dinosaur has moved in with the chickens

Either that or someone has been storing up their egg production to create something mahusive ...

They were all walking normally when I got home ... and the dinosaur was invisible ...

How to get a wardrobe moving ...

... and a big smile on Mum's face!  She came back very excited today.  She was riding Narnia again, who as we all know is not known for her supreme speed (see 31/08/11, 28/09/11 and 26/10/11).  However, for some inexplicable reason, she found speed.  She also found what is known as a smooth transition from trot to canter.  She also found her feet and kept them in the right position.  She also got Narnia to keep cantering for more than just a few paces.  Without holding onto the saddle.  She really was very excited about the whole thing.  We would like to say that her singing for joy in the shower leaves something to be desired but we'll let her off on this occasion.

Hopefully she can keep it going.  The riding success, not the singing.

So we are loving the weather!

We have been doing lots of sunbathing this weekend and have been making lots of noise in the garden to let Mum know that we are around.  It's been very lovely ...

Happy Birthday Dad!

We love you!

You can guarantee that if Mum had done this with werms this morning there would not be any left.

Eggs, Schmeggs

Maybe we'll lay, maybe we won't.  Yesterday we laid two, today we laid none.  Tomorrow, who knows ...

We thought this picture was quite funny.  Mum didn't create it because she hasn't got enough eggs ...

Another new teacher to impress ...

Mum had another new teacher today - her old one moved teaching evenings, so she had to go through the drills to make sure that she was up to scratch for the new one.

She says that she think she did OK; lots of walk/stop/walk/trot/walk transitions and she got a bit of (unintentional) cantering in there as well.  Her new teacher is quite tough; she will have to watch her feet though, she's hot on feet!

When the sun is out the chickens will play ...

Hail the cleaner

How is it that at the precise point I start cleaning the decking and the patio it starts hailing?

So I keep going through it because it needs to be done and I think the inclement weather is likely to keep going.

And the precise moment that I get back indoors, it stops and the sun comes out.  Gloriously.

At least it will dry out the nice CLEAN decking ... while I am inside drying myself off with a towel ...

The things that Mums do for their chickens ....

When is a chicken like an alarm clock?

When she is called Spoon.

It's Saturday.  It's time for a bit of a lie in.  It's about 0630 and the alarm clock is turned off.

For Spoon, the concept of a lie in does not exist.  She wants attention.  And she wants it NOW.

Lie in over.

Look what arrived today!

We are very excited because we know that it is full of ...

We will gobble them all up!
