Simples!
Now that I have your attention, I think it's fair to say that it is, in fact, impossible to train a chicken. However, it is certainly quite fun to try, and while you might think that you have actually trained them, you haven't, and they are simply responding to the rattle of the meal worm tub. If you are still interested, read on to find out the exploits of Fried, Baked, Egg and Spoon .... and sometimes my own, with a few comments from the girls.

What does Mum do?
She found a helpful diagram that seems to sum it up nicely ...
What we want to know is why are there no chickens in any of the pictures?

Mum's getting a complex
They're changing her riding instructor again. Just as she was getting used to the last one ... Prima today and working on the Serpentine; a bit like doing a figure of eight on a motorbike but different. Mum found a diagram ...
She was late back from work today because of a meeting so she can't report on the egg situation until tomorrow ...

Ham and Eggs?
Ham, yes. We love ham. Mum found some in the fridge and gave it to us as a treat. Spoon made those funny noises that chickens make when they are really happy while she was scoffing it.
Eggs, no. We appear not to have laid any today. Or at least none that Mum can collect. Only soft shelled ones, including one from Fried on the patio that we ate up after she laid it.
Perhaps there is a correlation between treats and eggs. We know that too many treats means that we lay more softies. But not enough treats just isn't fair. But we also know that we get less treats when Mum is at work, so we aim to return to normal egg laying tomorrow, or perhaps the day after ...

Simples
Mum is having the organisation and is arranging the new insurance for her motor vehicle. It has been simples and she is looking forward to the receiving of a new meerket toy when her insurance is starting. It will looks like one of this.
For chickens it is even more simples. We do not have the transportation and so we do not need to be organising any of the insurance.
But Mum says that they also do the insurance for the houses. So we wondered if we needed to get the insurance for the house for the chickens. Maybes it is already arranged under the insurance for the house for the peoples.
So we will go and lay the eggs.
Simples.

You know it's the start of the weekend when ...
... Mum comes home in time to say goodnight, and give us grapes. Mind you, she wasn't very happy because we hadn't laid any eggs today ... maybe tomorrow?!

Why are Mum's pancakes the best?
Because they are made using Egg's egg of course!
With lemon and sugar. Anything else is just wrong ...

Penny for your thoughts
Another new horse for Mum today, who has come back mentioning that she has discovered some new muscles that she didn't realise she had. Penny seems to have been putting her through her paces doing some preparation for jumping, including standing up in the stirrups as Penny was trotting round the arena.
Penny likes polos apparently. We don't think we would like them so much because they are a bit crunchy for us.

One of the many benefits of half term
Home made pancakes (courtesy of my best friend Victoria) (using Spoon's eggs) with bacon and maple syrup with fresh coffee from one of those funny machines that George Clooney advertises (but it isn't, it's a better one than that) and a general sense of well-being and relaxation helped massively by a bottle of champagne and face masks last night.

Mum's flowers
Yesterday when Mum got home, there were some lovely flowers waiting for her. She made happy gurgling noises like Egg does when she gets werms. She especially liked the little diamond heart in the middle of the rose ... it's all sparkly!
Just a thought, Mum. Those leaves look quite nice, so when the time comes that the flowers don't look so nice any more, perhaps we could have them to nibble on?

Mum has a happy face ... again
We think it might be something to do with Jenson. He and Mum got on so well that he went straight into canter when Mum asked and then kept going for a whole circuit round the riding school. No neck strap, nothing! Next week her teacher says that they might try some jumping :)
We are hoping that a happy Mum will mean that we get some more real worms tomorrow. She went to get us some mash today and brought some back as a treat. We are pretty sure that there were more worms in the bag than she gave us ... we hope that they haven't escaped in the fridge!

It might be cold but ...
... it's getting lighter. Therefore Mum spotted us this morning as we snuck out of the house. Luckily she had put some werms out for us which we very much enjoyed gobbling up as she left for work.

We would like to point out that this is not actually our cabbids. But we thought it was a very pretty picture so that's why we have posted it.

On a positive note ...
... when Mum got back tonight from riding her face looked normal. Perhaps she is not so allergic to Narnia as she is to the other horses. On a negative note her bottom is now slightly mis-shapen. This is mainly due to the fact that as she was trying to get ON to Narnia, she ended up coming OFF instead and landed rather clumsily on said bottom. It had to happen sometime, and she did get straight back on again.
Narnia obviously thought that it might be fun for Mum to fall off again, so she kept kicking her back legs out to try to get her to do it, a bit like the one below. It didn't work though, Mum held firm! :)

We have new friends!
Mum went away for a few days this weekend to the Battlefields. She was supposed to get back to school at 2300hrs but got back at 0300hrs instead and didn't get back home until 0430hrs (late parents; making sure the coach was clean etc.). We only know this because we heard her rattling our water and food containers around. We decided not to come out then because it was still dark and a bit cold. We saw her later on.
While she was away she asked two lovely little people to come and check we were OK. She had given them our werms and they gave us loads and loads of them from the tub. They also spilt them in their house; we heard the screams this morning. They did manage to pick them all up though; we counted the ones in the tub to make sure that there were none left on the carpet.
We hope that they look after us again, we liked playing with them.

What is wrong with BMWs?
I haven't got anything against BMWs in themselves. Or those that drive them. After all, there used to be a BMW living here once. What I just don't understand is that when traffic has stopped because of the bad weather (and a jack-knifed lorry) it is the BMW drivers that think that they can storm up the hard shoulder past you (not that you know it is the hard shoulder with the whole motorway covered in snow). And then they slip and slide all over the place.
Why they don't just wait along with everyone else, and then drive SLOWLY so that they don't slip, I just don't know. This clip was shot on the M40 at about 0030hrs, when I was actually supposed to be at home already tucked up in bed. It took us another 3 hours to get home ...
P.S. To be fair to BMW drivers, it was also those that drove Audis that did the same thing. And they also slid all over the place ...

Dancing on Ice
We think that we might enter this competition next year. It has been the perfect weather for it recently and we have been practising. A bit like this.
